Below the Horizon
7 January - 18 February 2023
Solo exhibition at the Artists' Studios Gallery TLV, Curated by Eitan Buganim.
Exhibition text by Michal Helfman.
The exhibition "Below the Horizon" includes a series of charcoal drawings and terracotta sculptures that emerge from internal dreamscapes and the wandering spirit within them.
The clay sculptures seem to have been "created according to inner, meditative models, where the sculpting hands follow the revelation of forms in the material, created from a void of nothingness.
The sculptural movement rises from the earth upwards, from the floor to the navel,"
pointing toward an unseen horizon, the very horizon where "the spirit stumbles upon the material" and is captured in the tension of the marks of time, body, and place in the charcoal drawings.
