Song of the Snake
8 June - 26 August 2023
Solo exhibition at Hezi Cohen Gallery TLV,
Curated by Yael Katz Ben Shalom.
This exhibition features a series of nine bronze sculptures and vibrant drawings created from a wet red mineral chalk stone from the Small Crater and charcoal on canvas. These works invite the viewer into an exploration of the intersection between reality, imagination, and fantasy. They evoke a powerful sense of tension—where nature intertwines with eroticism, and existential threats loom just beneath the surface.
Ament’s pieces delve into the unknown, embodying an artistic pursuit that seeks to uncover the inner workings of knowledge and consciousness. Her work serves as a journey into abstract realms, using tangible forms to bridge the gap between the body’s physicality and the metaphysical. The objects in her sculptures and drawings appear to twist and reach toward the viewer, charged with energy, as though striving for transformation or change.
In Ament's practice, the feminine body emerges as a central symbol of transformative potential, seeking to actualize a prophecy. Through dynamic actions and potent messages, her works invite us to witness this process, creating a dialogue between the viewer and the unfolding narrative of transformation.
